horrible service...pretty unbelievable really.. food...highly over priced but tasted pretty good...my scallops were undercooked but the salad dressing was divine.

atmosphere...very lodge like...makes you feel like you are not in the city...right by the river with lots of cottonwood trees.

service: really? i am not one to complain...but please remember that we might need things...like refills...or our bill? i don't know if our waiter had friends at another table or had like 55 tables that he was helping, but it was really uncalled for....especially when you are asking someone to by so much for their meal. they should get the service to match the prices. our bill was over $100 easy...just felt the service could have been worth it. a meal that would normally take around an hour to get in and out...took more than two hours because of the slow dang waiter. i guess you should make sure you have A LOT of time if you want to dine here and get crappy service.

Mediorce Food. The building is beautiful, the atmosphere was nice, the service was great, but the food was mediocre. That may be a little to good. My wife had scallops and she thought that they were imitation. I?ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they were frozen and then poorly prepared. I had a New York steak in hopes of eating a fine cut of Idaho beef, but it was tough and cold. I would pass this restaurant by.

Good food, great ambience. Love this place. I have taken a lot of my clients to cottonwood and have never had a bad experience. A little on the pricey side but well worth it.

Best fine dining in Boise. My husband and I have gone to the cottonwood grille at least a dozen times and have never been disappointed! The service is impeccable and we have always been made to feel very special, and have never been rushed. The ambiance is wonderful, casual elegance at its best. We have been in there in a pair of jeans and have dined in our best finery, you won't feel out of place in whatever you arrive wearing. Their menu is great, my husband is partial to the surf and turf. I absolutely love a special they seem to have quite a bit of scallops. They are the size of small baseballs and have the most wonderful sauce, I believe it was a saffron cream sauce. I wanted to lick the plate. I have also had their wonderful Ruby trout, succulent smoked pork chops, amazing chicken filled pasta, and many other dishes that I can't find any fault with. We are San Francisco transplants and are avid restaurant goers, and this place can rival the best in the bay. Don't forget the dessert menu that is massive! Also, if you are a wine drinker, be glad to know that you can get Caymus Cabernet by the GLASS! Unheard of! Don't miss out on this place, you will feel very satisfied when you leave! If you are looking for a great date night place, this is it by far!

Good for special occasion or anytime. Food was good, could expand menu abit. But otherwise had many different options. Try the buffalo it was good, maybe a bit to sweet but otherwise tender and tasty. Others had the Ciapino, filled with seafood, they said it was good.

Good setting on the river, I think next time I would sit on the patio. We sat inside, the dining room is very nice, not too loud. Bar looks like a good place to start out although we didn't. Decor is comfortable, nice collection of Idaho themed decorations (i.e. flyfishing, etc.) but not over the top.
