After walking around the downtown core in search of a place for dinner we decided to try the Ale House. The scene is Sunday night and busy, especially on the patio and our waitress seemed rather absent (there seat yourself policy allows for one server's section to over fill).. I was not very hungry and opted for just an appetizer and the hummus is nothing special. The restaurant seemed under staffed and the food was unimpressive. If I return to Boise, I will skip this place.
Really enjoyed it. We earmarked one night for a dinner out in the downtown area while in Boise and picked Bittercreek. We weren't disappointed. The meal was excellent --homemade vegetarian bean burger and macaroni and cheese -- and the beer selection was awesome. Love the way the beer menu is organized. It's a rowdy, pub-type atmosphere and the tables are cramped, but I'd definitely go again for the food and beer.
I will not be back. Not too great of a place. Pretty slow service, with servers who think they are better than you. Also, some of their food is luke-warm when it is served and when you tell the server about it, they do nothing. Avoid bittercreek and spend your dollars else where.
User review by raggedyanjanette. They have a lovely eclectic menu. The vegetarian sandwich option is delicious and the brownie dessert... thing on the menu is DIVINE.
