Used to be our favorite years ago. We've been to Sakura over a hundred times over the last 7 yrs, it was our favorite in 2004-2005, but this last time was pretty disappointing. Our young kids like watching the teppanyaki chef make big flames, the neat chopsticks for kids, and they love sushi.

Food was not as good as we remember, & not as good as other places we've been to recently, but there was a long black hair in our 4yr old's order, tangled in the broccoli over her teriyaki chicken. We didn't complain, just removed the broccoli from the plate, maybe we should have.

They aren't very accommodating when it comes to food allergies, not sure if they just don't care, or if it's the language barrier. We have to deal with an allergy to cayenne pepper, and politely asked if we could have a substitution for the "spicy tuna" roll that comes with the triple sushi. Waitress said "no substitutions". She didn't understand "allergy", so asked if there was someone who understands "allergy", and an older man came, he nodded that he understood, but they seemed a little annoyed. I also quietly spoke to the younger english speaking waitress who seated us, just to be sure the order was understood.

They served the food quickly, They subbed a california roll for the spicy tuna roll. I don't like krob rolls, would have ordered something else to avoid a cali roll, even if just nigiri or sashimi, I was willing to pay extra for something else, perhaps a spider roll. Had a couple previous non-accomodating experiences @ Sakura since developing this stupid allergy, but I figured maybe they just had a bad day. We used to eat there very regularly for yrs--used to bring my 4 yr old to eat at the sushi bar (he loved to order his own 'tako', and watch them prepare it, he's now 10). You'd think they'd know how to accommodate regulars.

If you have a food allergy, they are more accommodating elsewhere, & the food quality is also better elsewhere. We have fond memories of eating at Sakura, but will be eating elsewhere.

Great Japanese Food....and a Show. The show at Sakura is very entertaining. Having been to several teppanyaki style steakhouses in the Northwest and one on Hawaii, the show is fairly standard. That being said, our cook was funny and entertaining and extremely polite.

For those not interested in other cultures or trying new foods (I recomend the saba, it's great....the tako is a bit chewy), Sakura is not for you. Additionally, if you go there for dinner or a snack without the hibachi show, you are missing out. Remember, it is an Asian restaurant, don't expect American servers or American stylings, just expect delicious food and an enjoyable atmosphere.

Horrible Restaurant. Stay Away.. We just returned fro our first visit. IT WAS HORRIBLE. I can't emphasize that enough. One of the male waiters repeatedly forcefully ran into my wife, several times and was very rude. He nearly knocked her out of her chair. The hostess/manager simply smiled about it and assured us that they had a discussion with him and that he had apologized to my wife. He had not. The owner told us that he was aware of a problem and our waitress explained that the same man had punched her repeatedly as well as other waitresses.

Our meal was not served at one time. One person was served, a few minutes later another two were served and finally, after about 15 minutes, the fourth was served her dinner. It was served after all others were finished as we were repeatedly assured that hers was on the way out.

I've never seen a wait staff person act so proudly as the gentleman who repeatedly and forcefully assaulted my wife, and he left with a huge smile on his face when we complained about his rudeness and the pain he caused.

The food was fair, but not as good as other Japanese restaurants in Boise. The service was worse than any we had in many years in several countries. This is a restaurant to be avoided.

The men's room had no paper towels, so I don't know how the staff cleaned their hands after using the facilities.

"I Think I'm Turning Japanese". Sakura is easily the best Japanese Restaurant outside of Boise, everything is very well cooked and the atmosphere is exciting. Large parties can reserve a private room to dine in, although the real experience is when you are sitting at a table watching your food being cooked right in front of you.

I have heard people in the area complain that the service is rude, I recommend that anyone going to a restaurant run by people not born in the United States try and brush up on their culture, and get in the mood.

PROS: The food is fantastic, the prices are good, the service is prompt and polite, the feel is authentic.

CONS: The sushi trays are so huge that it will take at least two people to eat.

Anyone looking for a good Japanse dining experience can find it at Sakura.

Poor Customer Service. I took my family to Sakura after my son had completed testing for a higher belt level in Karate and we asked to be seated in a room instead of at a traditional table. I was told very rudely that only parties of 6 or more could use a room (no one was using any of the rooms, nor did any have people arrive in the time we were there). After we were seated, the service became worse, the waitress never smiled and for 20 minutes after our food arrived, she never came to the table. We ran out of water to drink, we needed forks for the children to use and had to flag someone else down to get those. I really feel that for any restaurant, customer service is the most important thing. I go to a restaurant to be served and waited on, not to be treated like an unwanted guest. I will not recommend this restaurant to a friend, nor will I go back to this place!

The best sushi I've had so far.... My husband and son took me here for Mother's Day dinner. Since it was located in Eagle and labled a steak house too...I was thinking it would be a stuffy restaurant, but it wasn't! The sushi selections were vast and absolutely mouthwatering delicious! Our two-year old son scarfed down a Cali-roll all to himself and my husband and I pleasantly enjoyed the sushi as well, including the Godzilla roll...this was phenominal! We're from Portland, OR and used to sushi being much cheaper. But I think that Sakura has won us over. The sushi was fresh and well presented. The staff was exceptional and very friendly. We're happy to find a place so close to our new home. We'll surely be back!
