Awesome Sushi!!!. I was sadly disappointed Zutto closed so I decided to try out Happy Fish. It was an incredible dinner experience. The service was on par and the food was amazing. Try the Kulchack roll it's great.
Best Sushi and Martini's in Downtown Boise!. I am a long time Boise resident, and I have tried every sushi place in Boise and the surrounding area. Happy Fish Sushi and Martini Bar knocked the socks off of my dinner party! With an extensive and fun Martini Menu we started the evening with grins on our faces. After our appetizers, of seared scallops (served with an incredible wasabi aioli) and Age tofu my group of friends and I were ecstatic. Moving on to the sashimi and nigiri, which were made up of beautifully cut and arranged fresh fish, our group could not have been more satisfied. That is until we decided to share a couple of the Happy Fish signature Maki's or rolls. Wow, excellent textures, flavors, and presentation. My friends and I could not have been happier. I had been to the Happy Fish in the past and it was fair, but what ever changes they have made since 2006 have definitely been for the better. Ace the bartender kept us laughing all night, and Andy our Sushi chef was informative and friendly! Not to mention great at what he does!
Bad Customer Service. This restaurant used to be good. Now it is not. I was visiting my friends in Idaho (I live in Dallas) and this restaurant was by far one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The waitress was rude and the service was horrible. The food took forever and we were charged a tip even though we didnt want to leave a tip. We were semi-loud in the restaurant, but come on, is a restaurant a library? Especially one that serves alcohol? I dont think so......I had eaten at the Happy Fish a few years back and it was fun and crowded and a great place. Now-Not so much. Now it is not crowded at all because no one wants to eat there. This restaurant better be careful cause other better restaurants are going to replace it if the waitresses dont get better........
Horrible Rude Service and Overpriced.
I recently visited Boise, Idaho from the Phoenix area and went out to dinner with my friends to Happy Fish. From the beginning the service was horrible. The waitress named Brittney acted like she was doing us a favor by even waiting on us and being there. We ordered the Maguro, tuna rolls, some martinis and one entree. The sushi rolls were small and overpriced and I could have gotten the same sushi in my area at some of the lower end sushi joints for half the price. The waitress didn't bring out spicy sauce for the tuna rolls and the edamame came out at the end. She was rude and quite frankly I have never had such horrible service. We ended up at the end getting a mandatory 18% charge for a tip on a party of 5 people and one of my friends didn't even eat!!!
I am from the Phoenix area and travel to southern CA a lot so I am used to really good sushi, but this place was so overpriced for the crummy sushi and the horrible rude service and atmosphere made the meal even worse.
Food great service needs help. First time to Happy Fish. Visiting from out of town. I have to say the sushi was great. Not the best I have ever had but it passed the test. It is a smaller place making the atmosphere more fun and casual. I would recommend trying this place. The only issue I had was with the waitstaff. They seemed to be lost most of the time. We had to constantly find our waitress to get drinks refilled. I even went to the bar at one point to get a drink just because we weren't being asked. Empty plates from appetizers stayed on the table even after bringing drinks and clearing a few glasses away but the plates seemed to be invisible. It was very obvious that we were finished. I had to ask if they could be taken away. Not a big deal usually but we were tight on space. Overall it was a good experience. Hopefully it was just a bad night for the waitstaff and this isn't typical of the restaurant.
