User Reviews for Hellboy II: The Golden Army

This movie was action packed, and the special effects were awesome, outdoing the first Hellboy by far. If your looking for a deep storyline and development of characters, than this movie is not for you. But if your looking for action, and I mean serious action, then this movie is for you. So when seeing this movie keep this in mind, it's based on a comic book, and what your going to get is a comicbook action flick. That's why the 1st Hellboy did not fair so well, nobody cares about a well develop plot, let's see some action!!
Pros: THE ACTION AND SPECIAL EFFECTS WERE AWESOME.
Cons: THE PLOT WAS NOT WELL DEVELOPED

The first Hellboy is a guilty pleasure for my wife and I. Not a great film but fun. We had high hopes for #2 (especially from reviews etc...) but felt let down. The writing and acting between the characters was horrible, especially when it involved relationships. I mean wow, bad writing, stiff acting and noooooo chemistry. *slight spoiler coming* The special effects were very good but for a movie called Golden Army...well be prepared for less than 2 minutes of the G.A. in action and then they go dead forever...all without ever leaving their storage facility. Many unanswered questions, undeveloped relationships and plots...but to the eye it was pleasing. Although the Eleves...I mean thin Goth kids with blond hair. The white makeup looked like makeup. The conflich within Hellboy was introduced but never addressed or answered. Abe was a littl eoff and the new character was unlikeable and then unbelievable when he was human. The humor was good, I mean the drunk scene...funny stuff. And the funny note and close...I did like. The Troll Bazaar was cool but a bit of a rip off of Star Wars of years past. I'd give this 2.5 stars if I could.
